Locked-up reality star Todd Chrisley is struggling with anxiety amid his 12-year prison sentence for bank and tax fraud, according to his attorney.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Todd’s lawyer Jay Surgent said of his client, “He’s still very energetic, but I think he’s suffering from anxiety in not knowing what’s happening on the outside with his case.”

Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were convicted in June 2022 on tax evasion and bank fraud charges. In January 2023, Todd reported to Florida’s Federal Prison Camp Pensacola to begin his 12-year sentence, while Julie started her seven-year sentence at Kentucky’s Federal Medical Center in Lexington.

The Chrisley Knows Best stars are working on appealing their sentences and convictions, but the process has been arduous and, according to Surgent, a major cause of Todd’s anxiety.

“I think [Todd is] frustrated with the legal system in general, as far as how long it takes to get anything processed — from getting mail to being able to make phone calls to having his case processed on appeal,” Surgent told the LA Times. “Everything is delay, delay, delay and it’s very frustrating to him.”

Surgent also revealed Todd’s issues with privacy while behind bars. He claimed that people at the prison have taken photos of Todd in his sleep and that his client has to exercise in a private space “because if he goes outside the facility… there’s paparazzi out there trying to take pictures of him.”

He added that Todd lives a “neutralized existence,” which consists of eating his daily meals, occasionally watching TV, and speaking with other inmates.

Last month, Todd and Julie’s children, Savannah and Chase Chrisley, shared details of their parents’ prison conditions during an episode of Savannah’s Unlocked podcast. They claimed that the prisons have no air conditioning, bad plumbing, potential mold, lack of water, and even snakes at Julie’s facility in Kentucky.

Responding to the claims, a spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons told the LA Times, “We can assure you all AICs have unlimited access to drinking water and the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is monitoring the ventilation at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Pensacola and the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Lexington, as one of our highest priorities is the safety of BOP employees and AICs.”

The Chrisley Family is returning to television with a brand-new docuseries focused on Todd and Julie Chrisley’s children as the husband-wife duo sit in their prison cells, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Their kids, Chase, 27, Savannah, 26, and Grayson, 17, will again star alongside Todd’s mother, “Nanny” Faye Chrisley, 79, and their granddaughter, Chloé, whom they adopted.

Todd’s oldest children from his previous marriage, Kyle and Lindsie, were not mentioned.

According to Deadline, the new reality series, which is in development, is being brought to life by Queer Eye producer Scout Productions. The Chrisley’s docuseries has not been attached to a broadcaster yet — but the family and company have high hopes to sell the series.

This comes more than three years after their successful show, Chrisley Knows Best, was abruptly canceled by USA Network in the wake of Todd and Julie being indicted by a federal grand jury for tax evasion and other financial crime.

Savannah opened up about her excitement regarding their TV comeback.

“The time was right to share our story and we couldn’t have found better partners in Scout Productions. Their ability to balance popular culture and empathy through authentic storytelling is unrivaled and I know they’re going to find the right home for this next chapter of our lives,” Savannah revealed in a statement per Deadline. “We’re so happy to be back.”

The production company is also pumped for the new project.

“Collaborating with the Chrisley family, who are nothing short of reality royalty, for their much anticipated return to TV is beyond thrilling,” Rob Eric, the Chief Creative Officer of Scout Productions, stated. “They’re ready to bring their signature heart and quirk back to the fans and we look forward to telling their story.”

Despite being without the patriarch and matriarch of the family, the Chrisleys have a lot to talk about. Chase recently called off his engagement with Emmy Medders just a few months after announcing wedding plans.

Savannah has become the guardian of her teenage brother and niece following her parents’ prison sentences.

Meanwhile, Nanny Faye has continued bravely battling bladder cancer. She recently opened up about her ongoing cancer treatments and how hard it’s been to cope with her health struggles as her son and daughter-in-law rot in prison.

“There wasn’t one treatment [for my bladder cancer] where my precious daughter-in-law wasn’t with me — not one time,” she shared. “Through it all, she’s been with me.”

Todd announced his mom’s bladder cancer diagnosis in June 2022.

“I would ask that people respect that she is 77 years old and that she is in a battle for her life,” Todd said at the time. “I pray every day, multiple times a day, that God keeps a healing hand on her. Everyone goes through trials and we are no different than anyone else.”

The Chrisley Knows Best stars checked into separate prisons on January 17 after being convicted of defrauding banks out of $30 million and committing tax fraud in June 2022.

Todd is serving 12 years in Florida while Julie is spending her 7-year sentence in Kentucky.

Todd Chrisley - Instagram - Feature

Despite being behind bars for a 12-year sentence, Todd Chrisley just broke his Instagram silence. A quick scroll through his profile reveals December of last year (a few days before Christmas) was the last time he posted anything on his Instagram profile. So, what does Todd have to say to his 2.2M followers from behind bars? Keep reading for the full story.

Todd Chrisley Breaks Social Media Silence

Posting for the first time in just shy of a year on his profile, Todd Chrisley continues to call out the corrupt justice system that put himself and his wife behind bars. At the very end of the lengthy post, the caption does clarify the post was made by “Todd Chrisley’s team.”

Now, Savannah Chrisley has previously admitted during her podcast that she controls both her father’s and her mother’s Instagram accounts. So, fans assume it was her who made this post. Savannah even popped into the comments, seemingly confirming it. In her comment, she declared that nothing would stop her from continuing to fight.

The Post Was Not About The Chrisleys

Shockingly, the post was about the broken justice system. It, however, was not about Todd and Julie’s situation. At least not directly. The post was about a man who was incarcerated with Todd. A man who the family felt also got taken to the cleaners by the corrupt justice system. A man with a voice people needed to hear.

The caption of the post explained: “Our Federal System is broken… please take time to read this letter from a man that is incarcerated with me. He is the Chairman of The Black Republican Caucus of Florida.”

Todd’s post continued by asking when the BOP would finally “be held accountable” for mending the broken system.

Congress MUST investigate immediately. These are conditions are not acceptable for ANYONE!! We will not stop until change is made! This could be you or one of your loved ones!”

The post noted the conditions of the facility Todd was locked up in were scary, dangerous, and needed to be investigated.

Chrisley Knows Best Fans React

Many fans admitted to Savannah and her father that they just weren’t going to read the letter because it was entirely too long. Many, however, stood behind her in agreement that Todd and Julie should be free. Surprisingly, Todd’s Instagram comments have been turned on for the first time in nearly a year.

Here’s some of what fans said in the comments:

“Meanwhile out here in ca we let a violent offender out to murder an innocent person a few days later —clown world”
“So you got caught not paying taxes and scamming but it’s the systems fault? Make it make sense. Jail is not supposed to be fine dining.”
“The real criminals are in office…people walking free for far worse crimes… VIOLENT crimes as well. Sickening what goes on in the USA in 2023…”
Not everyone stood in support of Savannah and her family’s battle. Some argued Julie and Todd should pay for their crimes.

What do you think inspired Savannah Chrisley to post this on Todd’s Instagram instead of posting on her own? Do you think Savannah gets her father’s permission before utilizing his social media accounts? Moreover, did you know Savannah managed her parents’ Instagram profiles?
