All right, let it go. Let it go, let it go. Get him… it… it… it’s clear.

Eric was in the bite.

“Can we start today over?”
“That’s right. Keep your feet planted. Plant them.”

“Are you all right?”
“Yeah, I’m good. How many times have we talked about not standing in the line, man?”

Eric was dragging down along the rail — it would’ve been an ugly sight, but Landon cut the line. He’s doing a great job.

“I think we just lost the seal to our block.”
“Are you sure it’s the seal?”
“Yeah, 100%. The others are fine. We lost the seal.”

This changes everything. We were supposed to be getting this gear on quickly.

“We can’t haul anyway. Secure the deck. We’re heading into town to get the block fixed before we can do anything.”

Later, I got an ultimatum from the doctor: Either I go in for surgery on the first, or everything gets delayed by five, maybe six weeks. I don’t want to postpone this operation.

It reminds me of my first season. A guy just walked up to me and said, “I got issues, I gotta go. You’re driving.” I’d never tied up the boat, never hauled a string, never set a string… Landon’s miles ahead. He can handle it.

“Landon, come upstairs. We need you for a discussion.”

Obviously, we’re not going to be able to finish this right now. We’re close to having what we need, but from what I see, there’s pretty much only one option.

“Do you feel comfortable coming out and cleaning up, putting it away?”
“Yeah, I can do that. That’s what we’ve been training for.”
“I’m not worried.”
“Neither am I. I’ll do my best.”
