Mandy Hansen was born on September 21, 1996, in Seattle, Washington. She was born to mother June Hansen along with her sister Nina Hansen from a previous relationship. But Sig adopted both of them after he married June. Later on, Sig Hansen was already the captain of FV Northwestern when Mandy graduated from high school, and she started working on the ship right after graduation and instantly fell in love with it. Thus, when it was time for her to pursue a college education, she decided to pursue something she truly loved. She attended the Maritime Institution in San Diego, California, and now she serves as the captain in training of the Northwestern.

Her first appearance may go as far back as 2009 when she was just 11 years old, but she made her official debut as a cast member only since 2014 and Season 10.

Hansen had kept her pregnancy a secret, so we were shocked to hear her reveal the tragic news via a sentimental post on Instagram in February 2019.

She posted a picture of a baby onesie and baby shoes she had planned for her firstborn as she wrote:

Hansen recently seems to be having a lot of problems in her personal life lately with all of her parents’ family woes. In 2016, first her father suffered a serious heart attack while at sea, which was also recorded in the corresponding season of Deadliest Catch. Shortly afterwards, in July, he got a call after he had returned to see that his wife June was diagnosed with cancer.

“It sounds like my wife has a form of cancer. We do know that this area on her neck is cancer. We just don’t know if there’s more,” he had said to the cameras at the time.

Similarly, in March 2019, Sig was accused by his estranged daughter of molesting her as a child, and in 2018 he pleaded guilty to the crime of assaulting an Uber driver.
