What happened to Mandy Hansen from Deadliest Catch? Miscarriage, Health, Accident Update

YouTube Thumbnail Downloader FULL HQ IMAGEYou would think that celebrities are usually so fond of sharing their personal life that they would share everything, but some things are far too personal to share. Something similarly personal happened to Mandy Hansen from Discovery’s Deadliest Catch.

Hansen is pretty active on Instagram, where she shares a fairly good inside look into her life, so people are more or less aware of her married and family life. So it was a fair surprise among her followers to find out a major detail almost a year late.

Well, it wasn’t necessarily their fault since Mandy Hansen herself shared the very tragic news much later on IG, speaking about her miscarriage: “Though I lost you my previous season on board, I still think about you every day,” the fisherwoman wrote in the beginning of May 2019.

She continued: “Words cannot describe the hurt and the love I still feel for you. Maybe we meet one day, little one. Mama’s got you in her heart forever and ever.” She wrote the heartfelt message alongside a picture of a baby onesie and shoes, still fresh in its package.

It really breaks our heart to learn about such situations when expecting and prepared couples, who would have made such excellent parents, don’t get to live out their dreams. We can’t blame Mandy for taking her time to make the information public, since she has not mentioned or spoken about her tragedy since, on social media or other public platforms, which shows just how sensitive talking about it is.

The miscarriage was only the most recent of many heartbreaks and sad news she’s had to face in a short interval of time. Her father, Sig Hansen, in particular, went through a serious heart attack back in 2016 on the fishing boat, and in 2017, was charged with assaulting an Uber driver.

Furthermore, Sig Hansen was also sued by his own daughter, Melissa Ekstrom, from a previous marriage, for sexual assault when she was only two years of age. Hansen is claiming he is innocent and the lawsuit was just an attempt by his former wife and their daughter to shake him down for money. The Deadliest Catch family has also lost many of its cast members who were dear to each other, like Blake Painter in 2018.

Thankfully, it is not all dull and gloom for Mandy, who leads a pretty happy married life. She has been married to her co-star and close sailor Clark Peterson since June 10, 2017. Peterson works as a deckhand on Sig Hansen’s fishing vessel, the Northwestern, where his wife Mandy is a captain in training. The two first met when Mandy began working at the Shaver Transportation Company in the Columbia River, where Peterson already worked.

After her marriage, we should technically be referring to her as Mandy Peterson, but she still goes by Mandy Hansen on social media and the show, so it’s kind of hard to change our force of habit.

The couple does not have any children, but after the miscarriage, it is not easy to try again. Until then, they are still very satisfied just being parents to their pitbull dog. Mandy Hansen seems to be in good health as of now, so we are not concerned with any further updates.
