The Deadliest Catch star Maelyn Reyes was reported dead on Monday, July 27, specifically at 12:10 a.m. Reyes passed away at 38. According to reports, his cause of death is still unknown, and authorities are still investigating. One of the representatives of Discovery confirmed that Reyes passed away at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Montana.

Many reports, including TMZ, confirmed that Discovery Channel’s star suffered a massive heart attack on July 25 and was hospitalized at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Despite surviving the massive heart attack, Reyes was unable to regain consciousness. His cause of death will soon be determined by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after completing an autopsy and toxicology reports.

Heather Sullivan, Reyes’s wife, confirmed Maelyn’s death after suffering from heart complications. “Love you Maelyn. Miss you,” tweeted his co-star Nick McGlatin as a gesture to mourn his death. McGlatin also shared a picture of the two of them captioned, “This place misses you. R.I.P. Maelyn.”

On July 27, his loved ones were completely shocked to learn of his death because of the heart attack, as stated by his wife. According to the Radio Times, some of his ashes will be scattered in the sea by the crew of Deadliest Catch. Reyes started featuring in the show from 2012.

The Deadliest Catch star had four children with his wife and was living peacefully in his hometown in Montana. As per his wife’s Facebook post, she couldn’t have asked for a better husband. The most recent episode he featured in before his death was Bearing Sea Crash, which aired on July 14, 2020. According to his IMDb profile, he appeared in 14 episodes of the show, starting from 2012.

Sullivan revealed that Reyes was surrounded by family, friends, and relatives at the time of his death. The Montana State Crime Laboratory is responsible for his autopsy, and the Whitefish Police Department is also investigating his death, as it was where the original medical call was received.
